The Merkur, landmark of Baden-Baden, was called "Grosser Staufen" until the 17th century. The discovery of a roman votive stone for the god "Merkur" lead to its present name. All around the Merkur you can find - next to a park with deck-chairs and a reservation for deer and wild boars - countless paths for a more or less long hike with beautiful views. Among others there is a 2-hour hike down to Baden-Baden all the way to our house.
